Bandhavgarh
Introduction :
Bandhavgarh is one of the most popular National Park housing various animals and birds in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This wildlife national park is settled in the district of Sahdol in Madhya Pradesh. This forested national park lays embraced in the arms of the Vindhyan ranges running parallel along the western coast of the Deccan plateau. This portion of land was once the hunting ground of the royal families of Rewa. The Maharaja of Rewa transferred its authority to the government of India in 1968 to reform for the betterment of the animal species of this land. The Project Tiger was introduced to this National Park in 1993.
Species available :
This wild life reservoir is one of the most important wild life centers of the nation. It is mostly popular for its tiger reserves. The location of Bandhavgarh is a dense forest of deciduous type and wet thick forestland is a factor to home multiple species of animals. The wildlife preservers and animal right supporters showed much of attention towards this park. This sanctuary is known to be the most densely tiger populated wildlife park in India. It is reported that there are around 22 tigers in the park, which is in fact the densest not only in India but among the world too. One can find many animal species despite tigers roaming here and there in the open forest. The official report estimated the number of mammal species to be 35, birds of 250 species, butterflies of 111 species, snakes of 16 types and 500 kinds of different species of plants and shrubs. Leopards, Wild Cats and antelopes like Chinkara, Blue Bull and Chausingha are found here. Sambar, Chital and Barking Deer among the deer family, Bats and Squirrels are some other important members of this park. Other animals available are Local Porcupine, Local Pangolin, rare Local Wolf, Wild Dogs, Ruddy, Jackal, Wild Boar, Rhesus Macaque, Indian Monkeys, Mongoose and bird species like Honey Buzzard, Shikra, Herons, Cranes, Eagle and Crested Hawks.
Travel information :
Bandhavgarh is located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. The range of temperature throughout the year is from 0°C to 46°C. The most convenient and best season to visit Bandhavgarh is starting from mid November to June. The nearest air station from Bandhavgarh is at 230 km away in Khajuraho. The Khajuraho airport connects the city with the Indian cities like Delhi, Varanasi and recently Jabalpur. The Deccan Airline is the main source of regular flight from this airport. Railway station is near at 34 km in the same district of Umaria. Other railways stations of Katni, Satna and Jabalpur are at 100 km, 125 km and 180 km, respectively. There is a regular service of roadways through buses, cars and taxis. Jeep safari is available for the in-house transportation.
