Introduction to Calcutta :

Victoria Memorial :
The Victoria Memorial Hall is one of most mesmerizing attractions of Kolkata. Victoria MemorialHall is British Raj structure and it is known for its fine architecture. It is a white marble structure built in the memory of Queen Victoria. It is the fine blend of Classical western and Mughal style. The idea of building Victoria Memorial was conceived by Lord Curzon. The foundation stone of this memorial was laid by the Prince of Wales on 4th January, 1906. This memorial was opened for public visit in the year of 1921 by the Duke of Windsor.
Howarh Bridge :
The Howarah Bridge is also one of the majorattractions of Kolkata. Also known as the Rabindra Nath Setu, this bridge is 450 m long. This bridge is over the Hugli River and has no any pylon in the river. It is the busiest bridge in the world. It is a brilliant illustration of engineering of the early 20th century.
Birla Planetarium :
Birla Planetarium is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It is circular structure and its central dome is like the Sanchi Stupa (Buddhist Stupa).
Dalhousie Square :
Dalhousie Square is a famous hub of West Bengal's administration. All major government institutions of West Bengal are located here. You can see here West Bengal Tourist Office.
Eden Garden :
Eden Garden is also a famous attraction of Kolkata. It is a cricket stadium.
Academy of Fine Arts :
Established in 1933, Academy of Fine Arts is also a major attraction of the city. It is the major centre of cultural activities of the city. It houses Rabindra gallery which puts on display paintings, manuscripts, and personal belongings of Rabindra Nath Tagore.
