Jagat Niwas Palace, Udaipur
Overview :
Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel is a early 17th century haveli with its charm and aesthetics, situated in the heart of the most romantic city, nestled in the fertile valley on the eastern banks of the famous Lake Pichola. This unique cluster of houses with its rooms restored back to their old charm and glory are surrounded by the ancient havelis and temples, they are situated around a central courtyard which is approached through a narrow archway from the Jagdish temple and the old city. The haveli is made in a typical Mewar architecture and provides a visitor a very relaxing and regal haveli atmosphere and style. The haveli situated right on the bank of Lake Pichola provides an excellent view of all the Palaces of Udaipur i.e. City Palace, Lake Palace, Monsoon Palace. The haveli which is in two parts and originally named as Titoda and Banderwara Haveli, was built around 17th century, the same period when the Badi Mahal in the City Palace was made. Both the havelis were in a depliated condition and in 1987, Kr. Devraj Singh took the challenge of renovating the havelis and converting them in a hotel.
Accommodation :
here are 29 well appointed rooms which are all different from each other and are situated around a central courtyard. The rooms have been divided into four catogaries standard, deluxe, super deluxe and suites. The deluxe, super deluxe rooms and suites are mostly the rooms which are directly facing the lake pichola and have jharokhas in the rooms. These rooms are equipped with all modern facilities of running hot & cold water, telephone and television. The rooms are all equipped with traditional furniture and elligent fabric. The suite rooms are furnished with antique furniture and king size beds.

Location :
Jagat Niwas Palace is perfectly situated in the heart of the old city adjoining to the City Palace and behind the famous Jagdish temple. It is 25 kms. from the airport and about 3 kms from the railway station & bus stand.

Jagat Niwas Palace lake side restaurant with its jharokhas on the lake is an unrivalled place to enjoy excellent indian cuisine, select continental and chinese dishes.
Shopping, Sightseeing and Excursions :
As the hotel is located in the centre of Udaipur, city sights abound - heritage Museums, Lake Palaces, and religious destinations to name a few. Kumbhalgarh, Chittor Fort and Mount Abu are also accessible though some distance away. The historic battle site of Haldighati is also an easy drive outside Udaipur city. Udaipur furthermore has a proud heritage as a centre for crafts and performing arts. It is famous for its school of miniature paintings in the Rajput - Mughal style. These paintings, meticulous in detailing and delicate in brushwork, are done on cloth, marble, wood, paper and even leaves. Beautifully crafted enamel work called Meenakari is also a good buy in Udaipur. Filigree animals and birds richly coloured in ruby reds, blues, greens and whites form a dominant theme. Bandhini and Lehariya, age-old techniques of tying and dyeing fabrics are another specialty of the region.
How to reach Udaipur :
By train: The city railway station is approximately 02 kilometres outside the City Palace, a drive of maximum 10 minutes By Air: Maharana Pratap Airport is approximately 25 kms from the City Palace, a drive of about 30 minutes. By Road: The Mumbai to Delhi four lane national highway (No 76).
General weather conditions :
Rajasthan is known for its hot summers and cool winter climate. The best season to visit is between October and February when the average day time temperature ranges from 18-25 C. During the daytime, lightweight clothing is recommended and a thick woollen shawl in the evenings during the winter months. It is also recommended that guests carry a light wrap during the colder months.
